Rerouted Blessings

The promises of God don’t always lead to a place that makes sense.

Noah was given instructions to build a boat in the desert. After everyone assumed he was crazy, it started to rain.

It rained and rained and rained.

For 40 days and 40 nights.

Eventually, the water receded and a rainbow appeared in the sky. A symbol of relationship with God and the promise of renewed life in His presence.

So, then they get off the boat and start rebuilding life in the world around them.

But it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows.

Things got crazy and then God added some confusion to the equation when people started doing their own thing.

As they were building a tower that they had decided would make them famous and better than everyone, including God, suddenly they lost the ability to understand each other. They began speaking different languages and were scattered throughout the world.

I think about what it must have been like to end up in a new place with an unfamiliar language and now trying to figure out what this life is all about.

We can have that experience even without moving to a new nation and speaking a language we never studied on Duolingo.

The plans of God and the places we end up don’t always make sense, especially when He has to redirect some of our not so great choices.

If that’s where you find yourself today, a little lost and confused. Take a moment to reconnect with God. Allow Him to reiterate His promises to you and I believe you will begin to understand which way He wants you to go. His promises are still good, even if a little rerouting was needed 🌈
